Why do commercial toilets have the slot in the front?

It's called a sanitary seat for males and females alike.
Think about it if you had to keep it clean and what would
make contact with it if it were a complete seat, these are
for public restrooms not really the place where people care
about keeping it clean. Now back to HEATING!

    Hey Dan my husband has read some of your stories about why tiolet handles are on the left side of the toliet and the cold water on the right side of the sink. My question is why do the commercial toilet seats have the slot in them. It makes is very difficult for little kids to sit on them.
