we no longer have the setup criteria for that burner/boiler combination. We do have the Wayne and Carlin setup data and they both call for a 2.50-60 or 2.75-60 Solid nozzle for low and high firing rates. Hope this helps.

I'm having a problem with a burnham V-36 steam boiler with an ABC/Sunray Bantam FC-234 burner on it.Was wondering if you have any specs on this laying around?I found some info on "Just for Techs" (http://www.jcgbs.com/users/jft/abc-sr.htm#Bantam "FC" Series).
Two things i need are correct nozzle, and pump pressure.I'm assuming 100 psi.The nozzle in it now is a 2.00-60B.The boiler lable calles for 2.6 or 2.8 GPH input, but the burner lable says 1.00 to 2.00.Evidently someone has downfired it.Everything on the steam side is working fine, but the end cone keeps getting coked up and shorts out the electrodes. And the fire is off center to the left and impinging on the side of the boiler a little.
Any specs or advice you can give me would be appreciated!Homeowner does'nt have the book(like that's something new!).Thanks.

    Burnham OEM Bantam specs

These are from the V1 series installation manual but they might help. They already helped out one Wallie, let's go for two. Note that the 2.00 and 2.25 GPH nozzles are specified as solid-cone 45-degree rather than 60-degree, this may explain the impingement problem you're having.

I have an FC-134 on my V-14 and it works great.

I will get you those specs tomorrow and post them here. I wouldn't go by the specs that were posted for the V-1 as the V-3 is quite a different boiler and had 2 firing rates per size. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. That 45 degree might be the ticket.
    Definately worth a try.

    Since Glenn is here

why not wait for him to dig it out of the Burnham files? He's usually pretty quick to do so, and you'll know for sure when he does.

The same thing happened to my burner when a tech stuck an 80-degree nozzle in it by mistake- the retention head got all coked up. He was used to Becketts!

    great

Thanks glenn. That will be a big help. The smaller firing rate stamped on the boiler is 2.60 GPH.Do you think that it is downfired too much at 2.00? I've heard before that you should try not to downfire more than 20%.If this is true, this one is right on the edge. It's been heating fine at 2.00GPH so i have'nt got the urge to measure EDR,figuring that someone oversized the boiler when it was replaced, and i would just end up with a smaller firing rate anyhow. Thanks again for your help!
  • I believe

that the V36 had equivalent firing rates of 2.60 gph and 2.80 gph. I'll take a look at the original specs and if we have any downfire specs that have been tested and approved, I will post them also. Talk to you tomorrow.

  • Found it!

I had one of our guys here in New England hit the archives of one of our distributors and I got it today. Here you go! The nozzles used on the FC-234 in the V36 were 2.50-30-P and 2.75-45-P. They are distinctively different than the Carlin and Wayne specs. Hope this helps.
