How often should someone bleed there hot water radiators?

Also, I've been finding air in my radiators, is this common?

Where could I find a drawing of how a basic hot water radiator system works?

    Frank, you should check out

    Dan's books "How Come" and "Pumping Away". The first covers the basics of hydronic (hot-water) heating and the second discusses how to set up your system so it won't accumulate air. Order them on the Books and More page of this site.
