    Looks like the worm

    picked up our mailroom@HeatingHelp.com address last night and is using it. Don't open any attachements. I don't send attachements when I mail to you, and this one isn't coming from us.

    I have been recieving ALOT of e-mail from people I have never heard of. Needless to say I don't open any of them, but I am getting two or three a day.

    Thanks for the update on the one with Heatinghelp's name on it.

    I get

    at least 50 a day. I keep Norton up to date and I NEVER open attachments.

    I received 2 emails within 10 minutes of each other yesterday evening that were viruses. As soon as I opened the email, Norton caught it. Within 30 minutes, I received about 5 more and Norton caught them all.

    I sent an email to one of the senders advising him. I told him it was as an FYI and ythat I knew it wasn't him or his company.

    These virus writers really get me peeved!

    virus laden e-mails

    I have Norton on my computers and McAfee on the server. So far the McAfee has done a bang up job of catching all virus laden e-mails BEFORE they can be downloaded into my computer. I get, on average, five to ten e-mails containing viruses every day.

    Norton updates

    Do this frequently...Norton stops all virus that come my way. Maybe 4 a week. Did you not upgrade your virus protection for awhile? Just courious how it got through. Using nortons, it is stopped dead in it's track. Another note...virus is big in documents.

    I also received two e-mails

    with attachments that looked suspicious. One from Heatair and one from Bill Nye. I just deleted them.

    Got me

    Sat am, but was able to restore settings quickly. Even with virus protection, these worms can be dangerous. I've received several dozen from the heatinghelp list. Somebody's got too much time on their hands to be designing stoopid virus'.

    I never suspected you of sending it. I dont know much about how these virus's propagate, but I know they can be made to look legitimate. The text with this one is obviously written by someone whose first language is not English. Such as
    "Klez.E is the most common world-wide spreading worm. It's very dangerous by corrupting your files. Because of its very smart stealth and anti-anti-virus technic,most common AV software can't detect or clean it"

    It goes on to say that attached is a free immunity tool.
    And if it makes your virus protection "cry" just ignore it and select continue.
    yeah right!
    hopefully anyone who receives this won't be fooled!

    Advice from a pro

    I got the virus yesterday and again today, both picked up by Norton AV. In almost ten months online this was my first experience with viruses. Because it seemed to use the forums to get email addresses of people who might recognize each other, I posted about it on a forum that is run by a friend who works in the computer field and he replied with two pieces of advice: keep antivirus programs up to date and get a free email account to use on the internet to prevent your personal address from being corrupted. No offense to any of you, but there appear to be other eyes watching so I got the above account. It comes with free antivrus scanning as well as a number of optional functions which didn't really appeal to me but you may find useful.

    todays were from "mechanic" and heatboy. the attachment names seem to have something to do with window borders? The problem is when you set outlook express to protect you from a potential virus, it won't let you open any attachments legitimate or not. what a pain. hope this one dies soon!

    I just received one from "wethead" it has an attachment that I did not open of course, but when I tried to delete it, I was not able to.

    Undeliverable

    Watch out for the ones that come back as undeliverable mail. They are clever (but not clever enough) to make you want to open an e-mail that you think has bounced back. I can't tell you how many viruses are isolated in my hard drive right now. A virus shut down Business News Publishing for half a day last week. All employees couldn't even boot up their computers. Talk about paralysis.
