steamheating problem

I bought this house 6 months ago,I have weil mclain 368st oil fired boiler.it is a one pipe system. Two out of the five radiators fill with water. The boiler has one outlet which is 2 inch, the header is 2 and a half inches, with a two inch equalizer, and a hartford loop. It also has anti surge tank by everhot.I have cleaned the boiler as per factory, with t.s.p. I have gordon vents on the mains #1,also gordon vents on radiators.the boiler is also down fired. Dan H book lost art tells also to increase the header to a 3 inch with a 2 inch equalizer, would that be of help. The header is 32 inches above the center of the glass, the header is 59 inches above the floor. The radiator that spits water and fills with water has a gordon #4 vent on it,I also put 2 # 4 onthe rad it maid it worse. The water in the boiler is rust color, I,ve cleaned the boiler and flushed it,I think the water in the pipes are causing the water to change color. The boiler nevers need water, and it never goes off on l.w.c. The pressuretrol is set at .05,1 dif.The factory manual calls for 2 inch header and one and a quarter equalizer, maybe that is the problem. My main concern is the water getting real dirty, and the water in the radiators. The pipes a also covered. I called a few people in the business and they are stumped. Any help would be appreciated . thanks tom I live in Springfield Mass.

    valves open ??

i have found that if the rad. valves are closed or partly closed the rads will vac out the water check to see if the valves are wide open . some folks try to regulate the temp of the rad by shutting down the rad , this should be done with veri vents instead. hope this helps... David Sutton
