boiler water content

I'm in the process of replacing an old coal converted to natural gas steam boiler vintage 1910. Its a vapor system with millivolt controls, 500 sq. ft. of radiation and a gravity return. I would like to keep this system as simple it is now. No condensate return pump. Do I need a boiler with a larger water content to do this and can you still get them with millivolt controls? What boilers would you recommend? Thanks

isn't usually a problem if the system is set up properly. On a Vapor system you need to keep the pressure low- if the system doesn't have a Return Trap or Differential Loop, a 0-16 ounce Vaporstat is a must. If the pressure is kept low, the boiler won't have to generate as much steam and consequently use more water.

I haven't seen a gas boiler offered with millivolt controls for quite some time. But check with your supplier- they may be able to order one.
