Do these devices require a minimum distance of straight pipe to the inlet ? It seems to me they do but it has been awhile since I've dealt with one. Thanks

    If you are talking about removing air and dumping it into a compression tank,then no.You do'nt need a specific run as in the scoop style vent system.You will need a device such as an EAS and pipe it to the compression tank via an airtrol fitting.The piping neeeds to be a minimum or 3/4" pipe.It also needs to pitch from the tank to the boiler.Cut and paste the link below and check out some of the pages on the bottom,I think pg's 12 &13.

    Sounds like a centrifugal air separator. if it is ~ ensure enough room exists to service the strainer (if yours has one).

    as far as min pipe length.. there is none. the turbulance will not affect its operation (as it would to a base mount pump). You can pipe these right off an elbow if need be. Just leave room to access strainer or your service tech will not buy you a christmas card!
