rule of thumb

Are there any rules of thumb for figuring out how many btus you can get out of fin type cast iron radiators at 180deg water temps?
( eg: Area of fin x number of fins?)

I have a 1500 sq ft house, built in 1918 and would like to use these radiators to keep in line with its vintage. Heat calc show that I need about 40,000btu/hr.

Any wisdom, or wise words of advice would be much appreciated.

Otherwise plug off the openings and submerge in a

vessel of water and calculate through the displacemant, The area of the radiator. Each Sq. ft. of area will deliver 240 btu per hour with 1 psi steam, & 179 btu per hour with 180*F hot water bigugh
