we have hot water heat in our home and i am getting a crackling sound in a set of supply and return risers, i would suspect it is trapped air rolling around, i,ve tried flushing from my upstairs manifold but doesn't seem to help.
Any ideas are welcome,
Thanks,Tim

what kind of exp tank does it need draining? do you have an air separater? is it bb or rads or radiant or hydro air?

Crackling
Ed, the expantion tank is a small Watts I believe, the air seperator is a B&G lacated on the make up connection, and it is in floor radiant with Wirsbo Tube and manifolds, i have a 3 loop manifold in my closet that seems to be closest to the sound but when i bleed water from the hose connection i don't get any air pockets flushing out.0
