    Steam Vents

I Just left a job with one pipe steam system. First floor heats well and satifies thermostat on first floor before radiation on second floor can heat up enough. All radiators have new Hoffman # 40 vents and new main vents.Any ideas on how to balance system?

A souple of things to look at...

ARE the main vents sized to the piping and is the boiler small enough to work in harmony with the system? Also, 2nd floor vents need to vent the air in those tall risers, so they need to be bigger. Some of the many adjustable vents out there will work well. For vent sizing get the Deadman's steam heating video and workbook at Books and More.
