I am pretty sure rudd/rheam makes a replacement anode rod. Not to long ago they were offering a extended warrantee which was extra heavy anode rod.

Buderus anode tester?
Does anyone out there know where I can get an offical Buderus anode tester? You know like the one the german guy on the brochere is using? Do I need one to test their dhw tanks? What would I want to be reading using a standard ohm meter? I have never had a problem with one of the tanks leaking yet. Anyone out there have any problems?
Used a lot of the horzonal tanks, w/ boiler stacked on them, so changing out the tank would not be real easy.
thanks, Steve0 -
Anodes
Do not know anything about tester but I do have some strong feelings about hot water tanks and anodes.I have changed loads of electric HWT's and out of curiostity have pulled lots of anodes from the old tanks, .Any tank that is over 5 years old probably does not have much of and anode left.So my advice is, do not wait the 5years put a new one in after 2 or 3 years. I have found the factory installed anodes VERY difficult to get out.I think they do that deliberatly to stop them being changed. So the best plan is to buy the type that can be intalled in the hot water outlet tapping, and leave the existing one alone.0 -
buderus anodes
The Buderus anodes are unique, and not like most standard tank anodes. They are installed on the inside of a bolted on cover. Not screwed in a threaded hole.

Anode
Who makes the anode that goes into the hot water outlet? I think I've seen one in a drawing of a new tank but I don't remember who the manufacturer was. My supplier also has not heard of them. Any info would be appreciated.

anode rods
Have you ever pulled an anode rod from a failed elect WH and seen a seemingly intact rod, plenty of material left, but coated with whitish stuff, thicker than the rod itself, so it was difficult to pull the rod out? This was city water, and not very hard. In regards to the rods being torqued in tight, you're right, but... I was at the A.O. Smith plant in Mexico and saw the pnuematic wrench they used to install it, but it is not out of malace, just quick assembly, it is made tight. Also, it must make a low impedence connection to the tank, or its effectiveness is reducedAll Steamed Up, Inc.
