Found this while doing research.

I also found a story about a hotel in Albany, NY that had to be evacuated last December because of CO.

  • Mark make sure

John Hall knows about that. By the way I am waiting for some info on pressure testing and procedures. If any cost involved let me know.

    Lame statement

Don't you think that the below statement is kinda misleading?

"Utility spokesman Mike Power told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle that crews detected carbon monoxide as high as 1,000 parts per million in the air of the buildings upper levels, more than double the concentration that will make most people sick."

So is this saying that 500 parts won't make some people sick???

Or is this saying that 1000 parts should concern people but for the most part it won't kill you???

The last time I checked, 1000 parts will be lethal within MINUTES, and I think the article should have expressed something more to that effect.

    Poor journalism rides again.

  • Utility spokesman

could be any one not necessarily someone with any knowledge of CO incident situations. A level of 1,000 PPM will kill you in 1 1/2 hours of continual exposure, In less than 1 hour you will be passed out, 1/2 hour headache and nausea. That is for a normal healthy adult human being, anything less than that those times decrease to a great extent.
  • Come for a week in Feb

    Valid point Timmie,

I just assumed that the newspaper put the statement in their own words since I didn't see any quotes around the statement. Your right this could be a poor statement by the Utility spokesmen.

Either way it is still a poorly worded statement that dosen't make 1000 parts C.O. seem that dangerous.

    Just my honest opinion.
