Can someone please tell me how to check uv flame detecters?
I just picked up a commercial account. It's a large Smith oil fired with a Carlin Burner. The Primary is a Honneywell R7795 control. The light sensor is a UV rod.
I went there for a No Heat the conrtol was bad, but I am looking for advise for down the road. never worked with UV before.no paperwork near boiler.
Thanks

go to your control suppler and get honeywells sevice book on that controler

For ultraviolet(Minipeeper flame detector) you need a purple Flame Simulator # 123514B. For the R7795A or C you plug it into the meter jack on the amplifier. These controls have an integral amplifier, some Honeywell controls have an add on amplifier.

The system may use a C7027, C7035 0r C7044 Minipeeper Ultravioloet Flame Detector. The Flame signal amplifier is a R7249A (purple) minimum acceptable steady flame current is 3 1/2 microamperes maximum is 7 1/2 microamperes.

The best meter for detecting and troubleshooting these systems is a Honeywell W136A or B meter.

A good manual to get hold of is Flame Safeguard Controls a Honeywell Textbook Catalog # 71-97558. The information for FSG controls is in the Honeywell Catalog.
