in- line thermostat

This one goes back aways. Some boilers have a in-line thermostat in the loop where it comes out off the burner. If it is not opening all the way it causes heat loss and poor circulation. I hear there is a way to drill out and disable this thermostat. Anyone ever tried this methoh? thanks...Jim

Doing so...
will void the warranty.
If you go to the trouble (and it IS a lot of trouble) to get the cover off, you might as well butter it up with Never Seize and replace the thermostat with a new one.
They put those puppies in for a very specific reason. If you pull one or disable it, it will take time, but you will eventually find out why it was there in the first place, and hopefully no one will have died in the process of discovery.
