Just...
...starting a pump to pull liquid out of the tank without a way for air to get in can do that. There was a half a million gallon demineralized water stainless steel storage tank at the generation station where I used to work. They overfilled it, but no problem, the water just spilled out the vents a little. Except that one day when they did this, it was REALLY cold. The water froze, and blocked the vents. Nobody noticed until they needed to pull some water out of this tank. They started a 600 HP pump, and that tank folded up just like the one in the picture. Impressive0 -

Tank collapse
I've heard this can happen to expansion tanks!
I guess it's possible, but have never seen it happen.
Anybody else?
