working on a commercial steam bioler in a church 2 pipe system am wondering can i replace the p404a pressuretrol with vaporstat and run it on lower pressure than 2 1/2 pounds any help would be appreciated

If you think you may need more than one PSI, there is one that goes to four PSI. The 0-16 ozs. one is a lot more sensetive below one PSI, though.
Here's some numbers....
L408A1132 Honeywell....SPST and breaks on rise.... 0-16 ozs.
L408A1157 Honeywell....SPST and breaks on rise.... 0-4 PSI0 -
But make sure
your main vents (or crossover traps, if used) are properly sized and working OK. Otherwise you may encounter steam distribution problems at the lowered pressure. You should be able to vent the mains in about a minute on about 2-ounces pressure.
When you get everything set up properly, the system will run on considerably less fuel.
