help with noisy pex

I need serious help with an incredibly noisy heating system. I just completed a $100k renovation of an old house. The heating contractor used pex lines for the baseboard radiators & ran it in the ceilings between the strapping due to the inaccesibility of some areas. I believe he did not leave enough room for expansion as every time the zone kicks in, it sounds like a train in my ceiling. There is no attic access and the space is completely finished. Short of tearing out my ceiling and killing my contractor, is there anything I can do? Maybe expansion joints / tanks, lower temperature with outdoor reset control? anything? Thank you

    How about

    continuous circulation with reset?

Thats along the lines of what I was thinking to eliminate some of the "shock" of the temperature change. I am not a heating contractor, so my question is, how would I best approach this? A reuglar circulator on the zone only, or do I need to replace the manifold at the furnace?

    Ken Secor is smiling

If he's reading this thread. Constant circ with reset is the only way to permenantly cure your problem. I'd start by seeing if the contractor will stand behind his work or at least give you a quote on what it would cost. It'll require a couple changes to your piping and a control or two more than likely.

    Noisy heat / Need conractor

I appreciate all of the responses, I prefer not to use this contractor as he is now a "developer" and seems to have lost interest in working. Any one near Wrentham MA looking for work?
