I would like HTP

(mothership of the Munchkin) to offer a couple sizes of insulated buffer tanks with 1-1/4" tappings. A bunch of them as well as some 1/2" taps for gauges and wells.

Then--- offer a mounting kit to set the Munch on top! This would solve a bunch of issues. A good solid mount for the Munch, puts it at a better level for service and adjusting, gives you the buffer feature, and occupies a small foot print.

The buffer could also be an indirect, should the job require DHW.

Oh, and make the bracketing out of some nice stanless in the rare, unlikely even of a leak some day.

hot rod

    Code?

My plumbing inspector would not let me put the Munchkin on a stand, even an extremely beefy 1000 lb+ capacity all-steel stand that I fabricated just for this purpose. Growl.

    munchkin stand

I was thinking about using these out of the Hodesco catalog. They say it will hold up to a 50 gal water heater. That should be about 400 + lbs.

    Munchkin Stand

I've used that very stand with the 80M Munchkin a couple of times. It looks nice and is plenty strong. I like having them up off the floor because it's easier for servicing.

Alan, your wall-mounted bracket looks like it works great. A piece of metal coated plywood for the base would be a nice addition.
