Wetstock--WOW!!

Talk about synergy and communication...this was an event you wanted to last forever. Putting the faces to the names of the "Wallies" was just part of the fun. There was some serious, and I do mean serious conversations on every possible aspect of HW heating, Steam or Radiant. The energy was as positive as it gets. I learned lots and had a special time. Thanks Dan, for the experience and pleasure of attending.

    Wow!

The Gathering was the meeting of the "elite, hands on, comfort control" minds.

Historical, in a sense, to have all of the Doctors & Scientists of hydronics, heat & healthy home environment from all over the country in one place at the same time.

Folks, They are right here on "The Wall" 24/7

Thanks Dan....for the opportunity to shake hands and look into the eyes of these important, knowledgeable gracious and friendly individuals.

Oh what a time we had...........................................

It was really cool to meet you all....We had a blast. As All Dan's productions.....very inspiration......Wish I coulda stayed another night....but as you all know, I did enough partying for three days....love that Wild Turkey.....and no! I was not the guy who drove smashed and ran over the stop sign...that's why I always park my butt at the hotel bar no drivin' to do. I really want to Thank Jeff Cook of Munchkin for Treating us to dinner...Even made it over to A1 in Somerville and picked up some great Bundy Rads...the steam project will commence in December...all who want to witness or participate are welcome. It was cool meeting the Infamous Ken Secor....and we didn't even touch flat rate....very smart guy..he added alot to the gathering...nice meeting you KEn...and Ellen Hot Rod. Chris JCA and all you other great people ......Mad Dog

WOW is right! What a great program,Dan. It was terrific to have a chance to meet the elite in the comfort industry and listen to others who have determined that low bid and a great project are mutually exclusive. It gave everyone present the chance to bounce ideas off of others who think that the best system for residential and commercial comfort conditioning doesn't involve scorched air! I hope that everyone who attended enjoyed the program as much as I did. Thanks, Dan and the Holohan family, for all you do!

    $82 cab ride

(one way from Logan Airport to Marlborough) was WELL worth it. Of course, I should have looked at a map and rented a car.

Special thanks to Paul Pollets for starting the most compelling discussion of the day on pricing, "raising the bar", acknowledging the elite (to help add credibility when competing, especially against "Rusty Van"), etc.

For this discussion, it was refreshing to have such diversity at one table:
    10 seats:
5 Contractors from WASH, OHIO, PENN, MASS, CONN,
    2 Manufacturers (Wirsbo-2 people & Danfoss)
    1 Manufacturer's rep (Northern CA)
    1 Wholesaler (DC-VA)

It was so interactive, I looked up from the table and there were a circle of people surrounding the table three rows deep. It seems only a Dave Yates passionate discussion on "Open Systems" would have drawn more people into a discussion. Dave, by the way, had the table place card at the ready.

Great opportunity all day to meet and talk with you industry leaders.

Dan, Thanks for the opportunity. You and your gang as always are to be commended.

By the way, in the spirit of always looking for different names to use to refer to the "Bottom Feeders", here is what I heard at Wetstock: Rusty Van, Skeeter, Six-pack Charley, Billy Butt-crack, and Bubba. Remember "What Bubba don't know, Bubba don't know." If Bubba can be helped, help educate Bubba.

Please reply with any other "Bottom Feeder" references.

    Well Done.

  • Great time.....

without a doubt! Great to meet so many people finally. Looking forward to the next one. Although not too involved in the residential/commercial end of the trade, it was great to know who to turn to when I need questions answered about those products. And please do not hesitate to ask me any questions about high pressure steam or industial boilers or chillers.

By the way, D. Broome, I did get that valve replaced. Took about 1.5 hours and had them back on line in know time.

    $82?

It cost me $90 for a two-day Hertz rental. Let me know next time and I'll only charge you $50 for a ride (kidding).

    The level of personality..

It's a great feeling to have been part of a group, gathered in a single room and all equally important. Regardless of the part of this industry each was involved in or aspiring to this had to be the most cohesive and comprehensive gathering possible. Thanks to all....Dan

    Thanks Dan & Everyone

Wow, what a time! It was great to finally meet all the people I've gotten to know over the years through cyberspace, put faces to all the names, and shake the hands of all the people that have helped me learn so much over the years. Plus met a lot more people, and made a bunch more friends. Incredible! As if I didn't already have enough to be thankful for, this is yet one more thing to add to the list.

My friend and fellow wethead Dan Farrant and I are already thinking about Chicago. I better go hurry up and see if it's sold out already! :-) Hope to see all of you again soon.

    I'll call for advise

before Wetstock II in Chicago. My airfare out of Washington D.C. was $116.50. Ground transprotation ended up more, $82 ($90 w/tip), we got a deal on the way back to Logan $67 (some van shuttle). Hey, I think the fares were fair based on distance. Plus, it seemed like we went through 6 toll booths.

Arriving Sat. AM & departing Sat. PM made for a full day.

    Where to start?

Regrets I have is I missed so many.I had printed the list of names and reviewed it several times.I should of brought it in the room and searched. But the many I met were more than better in person than anticipated.Great time plenty of laughs and more than enough opinions to confuse me even more:).

I met guys from:Seattle,S.Dakota,California,Michigan,Minnesotta,Colorado,Ohio,PA,S.Carolina,N.Carolina,Georgia,Maine,Mass,NJ,NY,Canada........on and on and on.

The first time I sat a DH Hydronics seminar he told the room about the internet.Funny how all those years ago my attitude was I guess bad.I wanted to learn more but was so convinced that I knew enough I was always quick to judge and would narrow the field down.Well a couple of years later we scored this machine.

I dont even know if Dan knew what was in store. The phenomenom of the internet has made planet earth so much smaller. Its made friends, brothers and sisters out of people who without it would remain anonymous.

The friendships that I have been able to make are unbelievable! The information that was available for 8 hrs in that room was unbelievable!Overwhelming, humbling and more than satisfing.Lights are on in my narrow field:)More ideas and options to help me try to improve who I am and what I do.

Thanks to all of you and to Dan for such a great time,

    cheese

    A marvelous time.

Wonderful to meet all of my Wallie friends. I filled the hard drive that is my brain to full capacity while enjoying the pleasure of putting a face to the names I know so well. Took sunday off by visiting Plymouth Colony and the Mayflower II. Very appropriate time of year to cogitate on Pilgrims and being thankful. I learned they had no radiant heating (shudder) what a mean existance. Flew back Sunday night relaxed and full of good vibes. I couldn't wipe the silly grin off my face, residual from my good time. Dan I told you late Fri night and I will reiterate, " You are the straw that stirs the drink in the hydronics industry." Thank you for a wonderful time.

  • It was good meeting you , Eleft

Thanks for the info on , well lets call it - business issues - for now . I appreciate it .
  • I had a great time

I probably had the same sydrome that everyone else had - no one looked like I pictured them in my feeble brain .

It was great meeting Scott Milne , I wish we had some time to talk , but it sure did fly . Murph , thanks for the sorely needed beer - who knew its illegal to drink outside ? Bill W. from Honeywell and Timmie McElwaine - both of them are the tops in controls and gas - among alot of other things . Mad Dog who I met before but am still wondering where he gets all that energy from - even after the night he had . I met Noel once again - the man who used to install steam boilers , and install them beautifully - As A HOBBY . Cheese - I think he can find the humor in anything . And Chuck - I didnt forget you - I dont think anyone could . Im still thinking over the offer . Maybe if the deal was sweetened .... And JCA , I wanted to pick your brain some more at the bar , but it was obvious you werent feeling your best . Heal quick and show us how heating is supposed to be done .

And everyone that did go for a few drinks , and then some . And Kenny Secor , what a font of knowledge he has - Oh yeah - many thanks for picking up the dinner bill . Hes a class act all the way .

The wealth of wisdom in heating in one place was amazing . I sat in on a discussion about slab insualtion - there are some very sharp guys from Wirsbo , and equally sharp radiant contractors at the table , and the conversation went way beyond my capacity . But I did manage to get the formula to figure my radiant walls - Thank you very much John Barba .

I probably forgot a few people - my mind is still reeling from meeting so many that I know , but never met . Add that to driving home for over 4 hours with a pounding hangover , Im suprised I didnt wind up in Halifax . It was worth it . Maybe you can make it a yearly thing Dan , or maybe every other year ?

One of the best professional gatherings I've attended. It was great to meet all the folks I've emailed or talked to on the Wall. I thank all of you for your feedback and I will follow up where I can, and pass on the info where I can't. Looks like a good heating season coming up, see you on the "Wall"! OH! A big thanks to Sheriff Murph for the ride in the Paddy Wagon with Steve, Bill, Mark, John and the rest of the "we like Italian food" crew!
