Boiler Control

I am running a single boiler, 5 zones of fintube. I would like to install a boiler control with a outdoors sensor to help the boiler run more efficent. Some day down the road I would like to add some floor warming also. I am looking at Tekmar's, What model do you recommend and why???

I'd probably choose a Tekmar 363. This control can be used with either variable speed injection or a floating mixing valve. You can also control your DHW if you care to use an indirect.

Be careful with the wiring...if it's not done correctly it will come back to bite ya.

If budget is an issue, the Tekmar 361 is versatile as well. Zoning by circulator in a primarysecondary application is a fail-safe, You can run a separate pump relay for the DHW, then a multiple pump relay for the zones of Radiators. Also, down the road you will have a Variable Speed Mix temp available for radiant floor or staple up, etc where you can run in a reset mode and provide boiler protection. The 361 is VERY affordable and is also made for Wirsbo as the new Promix 201.

If a little more funds are available...

The tekmar 371 house control is great. Integrates boiler control, variable speed pumping, and zone control for 5 zones (both mixed high and low temp) plus indirect fired water heater. Number of zones can be expanded and with some creative piping these can also be either high temp of low temp. Got a 371 sitting in my basement next to a new Dunkirk Quantum Leap boiler ready to go in when things finally slow down.
