Steam Problem
Justin
Member Posts: 1
Please help. I have an old (1950's) steam boiler, and when the heat is on for 10 or so minutes, steam is coming out of an old valve on top of the boiler. We still get heat and haot water, but the hissing of the steam is loud, and frankly makes us nervous. Any suggestions?

Is that the \"safety valve\"?
If so, have it replaced NOW- it is there to relieve excess pressure. If it's been leaking, it is likely corroded and may not work if you need it to.

Or perhaps....
the valve is working just fine and it is the boiler pressure control that is bad, and the boiler is over-pressurizing.
Either way, get it looked at!!!0
