Thank you greatly for all the response to my question regarding the soundproofing qualities of gyp-crete. Seems the most popular solution from responsees was "acoustimatll" and "acousticmatlll" or a combination therof, installed below the gypcrete in order to create an air space. (And of course approaching the problem from below with resilient channel and dry wall, but in my case I'm using exposed tongue and groove decking) Although some responses did say that gyp-crete alone is a fine sound insulator and that it is used in comercial applications a lot for solely that purpose.
