A better way to learn might be

if you drew up a picture of what you thought it might be, then let some of the folks here correct (if needed). Just make sure to let them know what you are doing and why.

    good luck

    Hey Harry

Why don't you tell us how YOU think it should be done and why. Then we can help you correct it and find the right answer :).

It dos'nt help if we give you the answers right ?

Now what do you mean by continuous ?

How would you move from one tank to the other ?

Here's a real life lesson. I visited a home this week that's totally lacking in comfort. Although they have a grossly oversized boiler feeding four hydro-coil air handlers via a 2" continuous circ loop that maintains temperatures 24/7, they have three gas fired water heaters at various locations.

They started with just 1 50-gallon unit & quickly found out two things. It takes forever to get hot water at the faucets on the opposite side of the home & there was never enough hot water.

Bear in mind there was this bear of a boiler just sitting there producing 300K of Btu's day & night no matter what was needed for heating. In my minds ear, I can hear a steam locomotive panting at the station, just begging for a good run!

Solution? Install more water heaters. DOH!

An indirect with pumped or gravity return from distant point of use faucets would have given that boiler a bit of a run and the owners unending hot water.

But you're looking for multiple water heaters feeding a storage tank, so I'd recommend going to Bock or Bradford White's web sites and checking out their drawings. George Custerer of Bock or Mike Gordon of Bradford can get you some pretty cool drawings of the application you're contemplating.

Restaurants and hotels often utilize applications like the one you've thought about.
