I have been asked to troubleshoot a High Pressure Hot Water system used for vehicle washing. The unit in question is a Landa 300K BTU LP Boiler. The problem is: upon lighting the unit, an enormous yellow flame is going up the chimney (10" type B) melting the aluminum liner. The flame is actually visible looking under the draft hood. Any suggestions as to what may be wrong?

have you checked
the burner and made sure it has the proper orifices - or ANY orifices in it? this thing sounds WAY out of wack, either it has the wrong orifice or the wrong operating pressure. sounds like your over fired. either too much fuel or not enough air. i'm not familiar with landa specifically, but i would start with the basics check actual required orifice vs installed, gas supply inlet pressure required vs actual, manifold operating pressure requird vs actual, air shutter settings, etc. hope this helps, Paul0
