HUH ?

If you place any humidity anywhere in the house It'll get in the ductwork! Aprilaire has a nice stand alone unit that can be conceled in a closet or anywhere that there is about 2 cu. feet of space. Of coures a drain is needed. anyway bigugh

I understand, the problem is the customer has fiberglas ductboard, and I won't install a humidifier in the a/c system. Have seen too many mold colonies in older systems with fiberglas (did I mention that I think that stuff should be banned?). I was looking for options, thanks for the Aprilair info.

After I sent

the above post, I got to thinking it sounded like I was after you and your knowledge of humidity. Sorry about that. Customers usually do not understand was what I ment. The next trick is are there any places where the duct may become cold enough for condensation to occur. A Stand alone humidifier still could allow mold in duct work at those sites. Hummmmmmmmmmmm... there are always kinks to be aware of! bigugh

if you do end up using the duct system to move the humidity through the house i would recommend a steam system. we have installed many of the ewc s2020 steam humidifiers. the have a flushing feature which will drain and refill the resevior. we have switched from the standard bypass and fan assist humidifiers to these steam units. customers really can feel the change in humidity with the steam as opposed to the bypass or fan assist.

Steam makes a lot of sense, what better way to atomize the water into easily transportable vapor. Are you listening Steamhead...you can do this you have finished getting all the deadman's systems working the way they should! How is the maintenance, will one maintenace per year be enough to replace nozzle, clean sediment from generator, etc?
