Hey has anyone tried Ultra-Fin yet? A friend of mine installed it in his own house and he loved it. Any comments? Also, what happened to the web site? www.ultra-fin.com. I can't get in, the site is down. I hope they didn't go out of business.

ultra fin
John we have sold some of the fin and so far the results seem fine if you follow the design....we use the program to lay out the jobs and it seems to work well..

How are things? Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope everything is well.
I have heard of Ultra-Fin and visited them at ISH-NA. My personal thoughts on this - seems workable and cheaper to install. However, it appeared to me that you have to run this system at significantly higher temperatures than a conventional Staple-up job. To me, this raises the question of system efficiency and possibilities of expansion noises. Also keep in mind that your most common CI boilers are most efficient at 140°F Supply with 20°F deltaT across their heat exchanger. You also have to make sure that your ceiling is well insulated, or you may get heated ceilings in the room below, if you may not desire it. Personally I have not yet been able to experience a system as such, but I am hoping that you will provide me with some feedback on it.
I like to be absolutely sure. I can not see more pro's than con's and will therefore stay with conventional stable-up jobs myself, until proven otherwise.
Have a great weekend.
Regards,

It looks
like an alot of drilling to me.lacing the tubing through the holes also seems like quite a chore.
No contact with the subfloor so it's really nothing more than joist bay heating.I think I'll stick with track.

Ultra-Fin, message for Mike
A friend of mine, who is a plumbing and heating contractor like myself, installed ultra-fin in his own house. His name is Bruce and he bought it from Prisco. He loved it. He said it was much faster to install than staple up with plates. One big advantage that he says is that you don't need to grind down nails to fit it like you do with plates. I don't think he has actually turned the system on yet though.
Hey Mike,
I am sorry I missed you the other day. George called my house when you were in town. I was out though and did not get back until after you left for dinner. Next time give me a few days notice and I will get away to meet with you. Are you going to Wetstock? I am.

Unfortunately....
...not JR. I wish I could be at Wetstock, but this time of year I am glad if I get a day off. I really would have liked to be there. George Carey and one of his guys will be there. Make sure you visit with them when you're there. George Carey is one of our best guys.
It was too bad to miss you the other day. I came to see George Gasperini and a couple of his jobs for a weekend. Had a great time in NYC. When we talked about going out for dinner that day, I thought we should call you and see if you were around. I know you would have made it if you had more notice, but we didn't know either until that day. Other than that, I hope you're doing well.
Keep in touch!
Mike
PS: How's the AutoPurger coming?0
