    Mixing Glycols

Hi Bob ! Long time no see. Nice to see fellow Canadians on the wall.

Re: glycols. You should not mix ethylene & propylene glycols. If the two are of the same type, it shouldn't be a problem.

You may want to test final solution to check if any additional inhibitors or additives are needed.

    Glycol blends

The engineers at Dow Heat Transfer Fluids division have told me mixing propylene and ethylene is not a problem IF they are inhibited the same.

For instance mixing hydronic inhibited with automotive would not be a good idea. The inhibitor packages that are added are completely different and not compatiable.

Can't really tell by the color what you have. Dowfrost propylene is a different color from Dowfrost HD even though they are both propylene glycols! Different brands are different colors also.

I don't know of any way to determine ethylene from propylene, in the field. Same with hydronic from RV from automotive. Need a lab to decipher the solution. Hope this helps.
