tstat
can only be 2 things faulty tstat or heat anticapater needs setting you would need a micro amp tester to set heat anticipater probably easier to check setting on old tstat or put in a digital tstat0 -
Got it mounted level?
If it is a mercury type stat it needs to be level. There is a place on the backing plate to place a level.

Thermostat
1. Is it level if mercury it has to be level.
2. What is the thermostat controlling, gas valve, zone valve, relay, vent damper what ever it controls the anticpator has to be set to match the amperage draw of that control.
3. Is the thermostat in a location to sense average temperature in the facility.
4. Last of all is it calibrated, get out your calibration wrench and calibrate it to match the measured room temperature.
If none of that works return it as it is defective.0 -
Mulitpliers for anticipator
Scorched air: 1 times amperage;
Forced hot water baseboard: 1.4 times;
Gravity hot water(including pumped conversions)/ steam: 2 times;
Radiant; ? (probably 2 times)
