I need to know this formula ASAP to bid a job. This is in a heat pump application.

Do I understand you are bidding an HVAC job based on a "check figure" rule of thumb? After you figure the load required, the material, labor and equipment costs, you might find this building works out anywhere from 250 SF/Tn to 500 SF/Tn. Good luck.

Hi Ron,
I recomend that you not use the rule of thumb you are looking for. Especially if you are installing a heat pump. I believe if you use this concept in engineering, the job is going to come back to haunt you. I would further recomend that you contact...........ACCA.........on their website. Take a class on the manual J for residential heat/cool design. They are currently running courses around the country on their 8th edition of the manual J.
