Radiant cabinet and counters(jalcoplumb)

the other day. I left a few isolation valves out in the drawing so it wouldn't get to crowded.

This system is in a dry cleaner front end. There are three customer service counters. The front end is all glass and has an 18’ ceiling. It gets very busy and the doors are constantly opening and closing. Even with all the heat from the back end it gets very cold. This was a renovation and due to the existing slab and other constraints a radiant floor could not be done. I tried for a couple of radiant benches but they would have intruded on the customers’ space.

Each counter is heated at the front and at the counter top (est. 2,000 btu per counter), there are two 12,000 btu kick space heaters under each. One kick space heater faceng the customer and one the employee.

The original design had separate high and low temp lines heading to each counter. All the mixing was to be done at the boiler with variable speed injection pump and control. Due to a problem with the conduit that ran under the existing slab we could only run a ¾” pex feed and return to each counter. This meant we would have to mix each radiant counter loop under each counter.

I will be using a Tekmar 361 control to provide outdoor reset through a variable speed injection pump. The mixed system will run constant circulation. This will ensure there is always heat at the kick space heaters when they need to come on for make-up heat. This will keep the radiant counters up to temp based on the outside temperature. The three way-mixing valve will limit the maximum temperature for the radiant counter.

The baseboard zone is for the seamstress. She can adjust the thermostat to satisfy her need.

It should all be complete by the middle of next week.

I will post a few pictures when it is complete.

Have a great evening,
Joe
