Dear Dan, I typed this in to the Wall about the time you went on vacation, but never got a reply. This computer stuff is new to some of us who have pushed the half-century mark; may be out in cyberspace somewhere. My problem is that most of the publications that I have purchased are becoming worn out and the spines are breaking. Don't keep them in the truck anymore, just to preserve them. Take the problem home and look it up instead of taking the book to the job. Did you ever consider putting your publications on disc, so that they could be referenced to by computer instead of paper? Only a thought! Lost Art and Companion have enlightened me to the solution several times; need to keep them handy but intact. Thanks, Joe.

    books in the truck

Dear Joe: What I did with my copy of TLAOSH was to take apart every page and put it into plastic page protecters, then I put these into a 3 ring binder with the chapters indexed with tabs. Oh yes, it makes a somewhat thick book, but the page protectors help when you got to use the book and have grubby boiler hands. The disc idea sounds great, but the book won't crash, run low on batteries, and even works when wet. Foward into the past!

Your idea about saving the info is great. I just don't have time to do all that work. Seems that family and job responsibilities take the majority of my timeshare. Need to find a way to compress 48 hrs into 24. I have so many books and manuals around here, from the last 30 years; that I have no more space to put them; yet they are invaluable. They come in handy when you want a reference. I think that this computer thing is a great idea if I can learn to master it. Can fix them; just can't use them.
