Munchkin help needed

for we are now manufacturing the Munchkin with the new 925 conrol. You wil have the option through your wholesaler to become a Vision one dealer and this will allow you to program a high and a low temp with outdoor reset. This will prevent the boiler tt circuit from being interuped so that the Munckin can fully modulate and be as efficiant as possible. The system will have a display.

    Wiring a Munchkin

for primary secondary. I have 3 zones. An Indirect, a radiator loop, (constant circ, heat injection) and a radiant floor. The radiant floor is also constant circulation. I want to use the Tekmar 365 control but it has as part of it's control a boiler protection circuit that keeps the temp in the primary loop high for non condensing boilers. I want as low as possible temps so the munchkin can be more efficient. Should I be using a different control???

    I want to help...

but I don't have time right now. I will try to call you in the morning. Feel free to call me 609.209.7073. I need some more info on how you plan to pipe and what your idea was for controling the radiator and radiant zones. The Munchkin is 92% no matter what temp you run it at high or low. Reason is the modulation of the burner. The indirect will need a high temp. to get the manufactures rating.

Might need a different control. Hope to talk to you soon. Give me a call tonight before 9:30 if you check this post.

    Talk to you soon,

    Now I got it.

Here are two sketches of my suggestion. Sketch 1 shows the wiring. If you apply constant power to term. 1 & 2 on the Tekmar 361 then your control will work on the outside temp. I use the same 120v input that I feed the control with. When it gets hot the control will go into warm weather shutdown WWSD and turn off your constant circulation pumps. I like to use a room sensor. On the 361 you will adjust the room temp on the control panel. This is nice it keeps the home owner from yo-yoing the t-stats.

I have had great luck with this setup. I set the radiant at around 65 to start. Most cases the homeowner is happy. I show them how to set the room temp on the 361 and give them written instructions. But I tell them I will come back to set it after system start-up twice to adjust it to their comfort level. Once it is set they have continuous comfort. They don’t have to turn on or off the system summer/winter because the WWSD does it. The room starts to heat on the first cold day and shuts off on the first warm day.

If you add another 361 on the radiator loop you will eliminate any temp swings and provide the same no hassle heat for both loops.

    Good luck,
    Joe

I really liked your design that you had discussed with Wayco Wayne with the 361 Tekmar and constant flow. I worked on a drawing that I thought could help for future reference. This is still a work in progress, please let me know if you would change anything on these.

What do you use to draw

Those quality images? How long does it take? Nice work.

I like to return only the DHW to the primary loop after the VSI take-offs. I like to keep the injection loops supply and return off back to back tee's. I like to keep the sensor on the supply side of the boiler.

Did you not like my sketch?lol

    Thank you Paul

    Munchkin man. You need to..

tell the folks to update the PDF files on the HTP web site. It is still showing the Munchkin with a 1" supply and return. What else could be old?

It seems Peerless has their info up to date. (ouch)

I have sent an e-mail to HTP on this in the past and the site still has old info.

    Thank You,
    Joe

    Visio\ Tekmar Stencil

I use the Microsoft Visio (basic) software with a CD-ROM from Tekmar for some of their stencils. It took a little while, but as with most things, it is a time investment. I will change the sensor to the supply and dress up some of the other items. I still need to re-label the legend at the top.
I am very curious about the criteria you employ the constant flow in jobs. I know this is a standard they use in Europe. Do you think low-mass boiler, large water volume jobs are more applicable than others? I guess I wouldn't consider this on all jobs, but I think there are applications that would do well. Love to hear more feedback.
As it pertains to your sketches, I have trouble with drawing "stick-people", so I am thankful for computers.
