bolier blues?
As this steam boiler gets cranked up for the season ,I am trying to be carefull not to overfill my boiler . This boiler has manual feed and with the boiler fired up ,it doesn't take long for the boiler to shut down for 2or 3 mins. until enough condensate returns to satisfy the lwco switch. When cold ,the boiler sight glass shows 1/2 to 2/3 full .It's tempting to add more as the boiler fires then cuts, fires then cuts repeatedly. My question is, how do you determine the proper level of water in the boiler ? . Ar there any simple rules of thumb that the professionals use?0 -
maybe your boiler
water is dirty, or you could have a clogged return line. bobTo learn more about this professional, click here to visit their ad in Find A Contractor.0 -
Or
your system pressure is too high, causing more water to boil and compress the steam.
The pressure on a 1-pipe system should never be more than 2 pounds. On Vapor systems the pressure sometimes should not rise above 1/2 pound.
