Service call

I went on a noisy furnace service call yesterday and as is turned out it was really not that noisy. What really bothers the lady of the house is that she can feel the vibrations and here appliances run in the home. She says that the furnace makes the chairs shake and rattle on the floor keeping her awake at night. What makes me think she is telling the truth is that she said that she can feel the vibrations even in the concrete floor in the basement. I did feel a very slight vibration where she told me she could feel it. My question is what could cause vibrations in a concrete floor. This happens at night as well as day time so I do not think it is do to road construction. I do not beleive that a 150 pound furnace can be doing this. Any ideas?

Check for an out of balance fan. Look for foreign matter on the fan wheel. Try a different fan speed if you can - perhaps you are at a critical speed.
Also, check the filter. Sometimes my furnace does this when the filter is very clogged. Or perhaps she has closed all the supply registers, causing the fan to be surging.
Sometimes the problem is not actual vibration in the structure, but very low freq vibration in the air that you can almost feel, which is the case when my filter loads up.0
