zoning single pipe steam system

What are the problems I will find if I put zone valves and tstats on each radiator of a single pipe steam system?Or if I put valves on the header one for each floor 2 total?

    You will need

to install a vacuum breaker between the boiler and the zone valves. BTW, what zone valves are you using?

I would suggest thermostatic radiator valves with vacuum breakers for each radiator. The TRV will open and allow air to vent through the air vent when the room temp drops, and the vacuum breaker will allow air back into the radiator when the TRV closes.

How do you plan on controlling the boiler?

thanks for reply. Please dont laugh to much . I was thinking of putting solenoid valves on each radiator or as the header at boiler is split up and downstairs just putting valves on each one .I thought to cycle the boiler on pressure and when all zones are off ,on its aquastat set to maintain 100.If i understand you correctly I can replace the existing vents on the boiler with thermostatic ones .will this give accurate control i swhat i suggest in any way possible ?

    Yes...

You should replace the air vents with TRV's. I believe Danfoss has the ticket for you.

    Don't remember the model though.

You will want to maintain pressure on the boiler so that there is steam available for any TRV that opens.

You should also change the pressure control to a vapor stat.
