Condensate piping

I will be insulating the system piping on my 1 pipe system , using 1 inch wall fiberglass with pvc jacket through out. I have looked through "Lost Art"and other text but have found nothing on insulating ( or not ) relating to condensate return. I am assuming it would be only bennificial to do so , but would like to hear others thoughts on this. Also , is there any problem with using an automatic vent damper ( open on call for heat) on 1 pipe gravity return system ? Probrobly a dumb question but I don't pretend to know all about steam heating ( could get some strange situation by lessening the stand by loss of the boiler would create a vacume in the header causing the steam in the main to slow down and condense..etc...Laugh out loud).Replys appriciated.

It pays to insulate
the returns because that keeps the condensate hotter and less able to absorb carbon dioxide. The result is less carbonic acid in the returns and longer life for the pipes.Retired and loving it.0
