before & after

House was done by a guy copying the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. Copper tubing in concrete slab, probably pushing 50 years old. Main boiler was 375,000 BTU, smaller boiler for bedroom area was 175,000 BTU. Main had 2 zones/pumps, bedroom had only 2 1/2" supplies! Heat loss was 120,000 BTU despite the huge capacity. Replacement boiler was 175,000 BTU input. Before, high limits were set at 180, getting the slab toasty warm. The Mrs. said he method of controlling the heat was opening windows! The new system was designed by a rep from the boiler wholesaler. There's a manual mixing valve that is set for a floor water of about 130. The boiler runs 170-180. Each zone is on a Taco pump. The system has only been on 36 hours but so far so good.
