Flat plate heat exchanger!

I got this for a job today and could not believe how small it is! I'm feeding a Unico hot water coil in an attic with a water mix.

The only problem is it did not come with any install directions. Are there any piping paramitors that I have to stay within?

I know I treat it as an entire new system w/ it's own air separator but being that I'm using a water mix is there any other piping tricks I need to now about. I.E. air purging.

Thanks again wet heads,
Jamie

    Jamie, here's one...

I did awhile back. It feeds a snow melt system, believe it or not that little succker
    will make 4 GV-6's hump!!!!!
Don't know if I did it right but it sure has worked great!!
The pump on the left is the pump(high head Grundfos) from the secondary piping off the boilers
and the pump on the right(007 Taco)pulls water out of the snowmelt loop and feeds back in.
The snow melt loop has a Taco 010 (I think) if I can remember right.
I since have heard that it is a good idea to put Y-strainers in ahead of the HX, especially if the
system may not be real clean.

    Have fun!!!

Possible some sort of baby fluid odour control device :)

    What a wonderful world.

Have a great weekend, y'all, and wrap that baby up well.

Would you also know if I have to keep my first 90 any specific distance from the inlet and outlet.

    Hi Jamie

That young-un keepin you up at night?? (g)

Side A and B really don't matter on all the ones that I've seen. It's an equal number of paltes either way. What's the application?

I always pipe them with a boiler drain inbetween the HX and a ball valve on sides A and B. The waterways in a plate type HX are usually the narrowest passageways in a hydronic system. That being the case, It'll need to be cleaned at some point in time. With the four isolation valves and boiler drains it's easy to attach a cleaning solution pump to the HX and clean it out. No requirements on elbows or straight lenghts of pipe that I know of.

    Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll make sure to add the drains!

And yes the little one has us up a lot during he night. He's a regular party animal starting around 11:30P.m. till 1:00A.M. and up again around 4:30 AM. We are trying to change these times but it is hard.

    Thank you for asking,

    Jamie
