Buderus Controls?

What would you guys do?

We have a Buderus G124x with a 42 gallon indirect, two american standard variable speed air-handlers with hot water coils, four radiant zones running two different water temps. The radiant is the primary heat source.

The radiant is controled w/ a promix 212 (injection pumping) and the air-handlers will run off of some kind of zone control.

Do you guys recommend any of the Buderus controls? I.E. the Logimatic, with or with-out reset! Or how would you control this system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is such a challenging industry with so much technology pumping into it. I'm having a tough time trying to keep up.

Jamie

Just add another multi zone relay box...........

    Jamie,

You can wire the 212 to fire and run the boiler. Also you can run the radiant zones off of it. The hot air zones and the indirect can then be run off of a multi relay control with priority for the hot water. I think it is a waste of money to buy the extra buderus logomatic because you can't reset the air handlers and the indirect, so the logomatic won't offer you any extra benifit that the 212 isn't doing already.

    Primary secondary piping

    Jamie,

Don't forget the primary secondary piping too.... Gotta protect the boiler.

Thanks for the input John, it is greatly appreciated! And don't worry it is piped primary / secondary.

I like Buderus alot and use them as much as possible. That being said Tekmar controls do the same thing just alittle differently. I would stick with the Tekmar control on this one.
I disagree that the fan coils can't be reset. I am resetting four zone right know. We are just using a flatter curve. And start alittle higher ont he curve.

    reset fan coils

If you use outside air reset on the water serving fan coils - how do you size the coil and blower fan? I wonder if there isn't a point that with a single speed blower, and a "cool" water temp, the fan coil would blow out too cool air.
Customer calls - " It's working ok but blowing out cold air"

Maybe this will help Buderus Application Manual

I found this in my Buderus Application Manual , The back ground wiring is a bit faded and hard to read. I guess this printing was from a bad batch. Hope this could help

    In the Buderus Application Manual

Sorry the back ground wiring is very faint and hard to see. I must have received it from a batch of bad print.....

    It will feel to cold.......

    Randy,

You are right, if you reset the air handlers, you will feel too cold. When air is blown over you it makes the temperature of the air feel much cooler than it is. The water temperature needs to be very hot to get the air hot enough so that you don't get a "cold air from the registers complaint". Minimum water temps to a fan coil are 160-180 degrees. You could reset a fan coil, I have done it coming off a boiler loop. The control I used, Tekmar 363 resets the boiler loop anyway, I used a minimum of 170 degrees for the fan coil.

It doesn't make any sense to buy a logomatic for $500 just to reset a fan coil though.

Thank you guys for all the input! I decided to us a Logimatic 2109 (without out door reset), a promix 212, and a taco zone control for the air handlers.

The reason why I am using the 2109 is because it can turn off the system primary pump when it has the call for hot water then only powering the hotwater pump.

The Promix 212 injection system is really cool because it has outdoor reset for the radiant. I can either wire the air handlers through the promix to take advantage of the out door reset or not go through the promix.

Since I am using American Standard Variable speed air handlers I can take advantage of out door reset with them. I can set the fans up to ramp up or down in the "enhanced mode"
