oxygen barrier

in THE MAIN WALL
I want to replace steam return lines with 1" pex tubing. Because a steam system (one pipe) is vented, do I need to bother with oxygen barrier tubing, or can I use potable water pex?

    I think I would stick with iron pipe. Sagging would be a problem, even if it COULD take the heat.
