Mold and Radiant Heating

An architect mentioned that he was reluctant to us radiant floor heat because he was concerned by the potential buildup of mold.

We have responded, like we all would, it's never been a problem, rfh bakes out the materials, it's better than fau, etc.

What I really need is authoritative sources which demonstrate that radiant floor heat will not create a problem.

Any help would be most appreciated.

this would be a deterrent of mold, which needs dampness and fiberous materials to grow, 70* is breeding heaven for molds and these systems are run at 100* and higher!!

    Mold

    Michael,

Coming right to the point, the architect is an idiot if he thinks that a heating system will have an affect on mold production.

Mold is EVERYWHERE and will grow when given the right environment. Mold needs two things, water and food. It will grow anywhere that those criterea are met.

If he thinks that radiant systems PRODUCE mold, he is mistaken. If you build a home that is VERY tight and you do not consider mechanical ventilation, you would get a mold situation regardless of what heat system you have.

Challenge this "professional" to give you HIS proof.

Keep posting here, I would like to hear how this progresses.
