  • Are you planning on maintaining some temperature

in the boiler ? If youre going to cold start it , I would use a relay with terminals 5 and 6 in it . Run 2 wires from T and T of the relay to the aquastat of the indirect .

What is controlling the steam part - a cad cell relay or a mounted relay ? With either one you want to run a wire from 1 T terminal of the steam relay to terminal 5 of the indirect relay . Then run a wire from number 6 of the indirect relay to an aquastat in the boiler . Then run a wire from the aquastat to the other T terminal of the relay of the steam part - comnpleting the circuit . Man that sounds confusing - maybe someone has a diagram online ?

    domestic hot h2o

How about using a tankless coil with a bronze circ, using the existng 80 gal electric as a storage tank and electric backup? Just a thought.-----AL

Well than just wire in the aquastat off of the indirects tstat with a honeywell r822d #? simple dpdt relay to operate the pump. Although if it were my install, i might be a little reserved with cold startin the boiler due to domestic response time, but i don't know the circumstances-----------AL

The thermostat control of the indirect heater should be wired to the T-T terminals of a DPST relay such as a Honeywell R845A. The pump for the indirect gets powered from terminals 2 and 4 of this relay and terminals 5 and 6 (dry contacts) will connect to wherever your house thermostat is wired to on the steam boiler. However, one leg of this wire will have to be wired through a high limit immersion aquastat such as a Honeywell L4006A. This control must be immersed in the boiler near where you are supplying the boiler water to the indirect heater. Set this control for approximately 170F to 180F and the burner will shut off before you make steam when the indirect is calling. Hope this helps.
