Gas burner
than your first post. The spark is lighting the pilot then it is going out.
1. Check your microamps if you can.
2. Do you have 24 volts coming out of the MV terminal on the module?
3. If you do then check for 24 volts at MV terminal on gas valve. If you have 24 volts then the burner should come on.
4. If no 24 volts from MV at all then your problem is flame sensing and the microamp reading will tell you that. You should get between 2 to 10 microamps. Average is 3 to 5 anything less than 2 then clean the pilot and clean the sensing rod (use soft clean emory cloth) The flame should hit the upper 1/2" to 3/8" of the sensing rod.
5. If all else fails and it keeps happening then change the module.

Gas burner
Went on a call today, gas boiler. 99.9% of my work is oil. This burner was electronic ignition the pilot was light. When the thermostat called you can hear the ignitor clicking but after a few seconds it shut off. My first thought was the gas valve is no good. what do you think. There is gas at the drip leg. What is the easiest way to test this?0 -
gas
i will use a lighter to light it for safety you can pull the wire off the ing. control for main valve unless the spark is lighting main gas what kind of control do you have if piolt does not light check power from control to valve if power and you sometimes can hear the valve open if no flame clean pilot assembly might have a spider in it it also could be your spark control they tell how long the spark time is and if it retries or locksout jeff0 -
Electric Ignition System
There are several things to look for:
1. It may be there is some air in the gas line. This is typical after the system has been sitting for some time.
2. Check for 24 volts at the PV terminal on the module to ground. On Johnson controls this is terminal #1.
3. Check for 24 volts at the PV terminal on the gas valve to ground.
4. If both of those check out then disconnect the wire from MV and as the other post said and with the system calling reach in and light the pilot. If it does not light then assuming you have gas to the gas valve the pilot valve is not opening- replace the gas valve.
5. If the pilot lights then the problem is in one of the following.
(1) Dirty pilot, pull the pilot and blow the dirt out of the orifice in the pilot and retry.
(2) Make sure the spark gap is 1/8".
(3) The spark has to be occuring at the point of the gas air mix at the hood of the pilot.
6. Make sure you have a good ground connection.
I also have available some troubleshooting guides that will help you to diagnose and repair electric ignition systems on gas equipment. E-mail me and I will send you our catalog.0 -
The pilot is on. When the thermostat calls all you hear is the ignitor clicking(lights the pilot) but the burner never goes on. After a few seconds it shuts off.0 -
has the gas co recently replaced the meter have done 3 service calls in 1 week where gas co replaced the meter and forgot to turn gas valve back on0
