new munchkin - scott

In with the new.
Had a customer that was told by another contracter that the 399,000 input, 267,000 out, boiler he had would need two small boilers to replace it.
I told him it did'nt sound right and did a complete heat loss. Guess what, 130,000 demand. They also had a real problem with make up air. SOOO...
We put in a Munchkin 199 and sat it on a Buderus 50 gallon indirect to replace the old 50 gallon HWH they had.
Nice system, lots of room and no more make up problem. A little knowledge is a nice thing ;)
This is the new system and the other photo is what we replaced.

Hey Scott....
I noticed that it is right near the window. Will you and the boys be having guided tours for customers and they can look in the window and see your excellent work. Maybe in November we could all rent a bus and go by. Maybe the wives could include that on their tour.... then again maybe not although you never know!!!!0 -
Buderus
Hey S Milne,
Why didnt you use a matching buderus gas boiler ???0 -
Direct vent
Was the game here, to eliminate the make up air problem.
The new Buderus direct vent sealed combustion did'nt have the btu's to cover this job. Thats why we went to the munchie.

Nice work Scott
I see youre following instructions not alot of installers seem to know - giving 12 inches between the circs and flowvalves .
Speaking of trying to follow instructions , whats the deal with the piping diagram on the outside of the Taco airscoop box ? They dont include the minimum distance to the airscoop on the box of either the 3 inch or the 1 inch , which we used recently . But they do tell you its 18 inches minimum , On The Flowvalve Box ? Kind of weird . Great work again Scott .0 -
different perspective
I looked at it from the other side - a boiler room with a view!
Or perhaps it was installed as a conversation piece in a corner of the basement family room - it's certainly attractive enough for that.

Did'nt know...
About the space required between pump and flowcheck, is it so it doesn't receive turbulent flow, and vibrate?

Good morning Mr.Scott!
I must say,it must be a great feeling to show up with a measuring tape and a notebook to show what a heat loss is!The other bidder was twice the load. The HO must be very very happy he contacted you.
And whatta match eh:)........call it a Mooderus? Very clean install and as mentioned.........a room with a view!Keep it up.

Gorgeous work
I love the idea of putting the Munchie on the buderis Indirect. Small footprint and you get the condensate nice and high. Wish I'd thought of it. Wayco Wayne0
