In my steam system, I have a dry return that runs midway along the wall in my basement. Once it gets into the boiler room, it drops to the floor and runs around a built in wall closet and into the boiler. The drips from the upper floors seem to tie into the return at the floor. I seem to have some water hammering from the riser the riser of the same drip I mentioned above. It usually happens at the end of the cycle when the boiler turns off and the system is cooling down. I have flushed the returns till steam comes out (does that mean they are completely clear?) thinking that might be the problem but I still seam to have the clanking. Help would be appreciated, I am a do it yourselfer who can pretty much tackle anything with some research. Thanks in advance for any response.
