Escelera stairclimber

has anybody used an escelera forked handtruck?
today was our first test +I think some tips are
needed .The v8 burnham boiler is 700 lbs,
500 less than max rating,and 650lbs more than a
munchkin . does the center of gravity need to
be higher while decending?does this take more
then 2 men ? have you ever seen a v8 freewheel
burning halfway down the stairs has anyone seen
my heatpad? thanks for any help..

  • We inherited a used Escalera

The 700 LB max one with no forklift . Taking up heavy loads - heavier than the handtruck rating - was a breeze , almost effortless . We did have trouble with the ECT 4 section going down - sometimes it would slip off a step .

I can understand how awkward a Burnham is going down - lower center of gravity and it sticks off the handtruck ALOT farther . We got the Escalera video tape , and it says to lift the load higher on the handtruck to counterbalance the weight . Kind of a risky proposition with a 700 LB boiler . We make it a 3 man job to take down a 4 section V8 - my luck the boiler would pinwheel down the steps and flatten me like a pancake . Hey Paul , do you bring the boiler to the job in a van ? And if you do , how do you get them off a van ?

  • Keep us posted

on how the counter balancing works out . Any way to avoid splitting a boiler , or balancing it precariously with a regular handtruck is good news to me .
