Boiler water temperature

I wouldn't rely on the temp gauge of the hot water zone you have, may not be accurate, if you have another type of thermometer(infared, etc)check temp on supply to hot water radiation. I would not turn up aquastat just to get a better reading on the gauge especially if you say boiler is starting to make steam. Probably not a big expense, isolate the hot water zone and change the temp gauge.
hope this helps some.

Boiler temperature
What should the cut-off temperature of the water coming out of my boiler be set at.
I have a temerature guage that reads 135 degrees when the boiler cuts off for my circulating water system. The high temp cutoff is set at 180 but its an old boiler and I'm not sure if its working 100 percent accurate. As I turn it hotter the boiler kicks on. Problem I am having is if I raise the maximum temp cutoff to say 210 which makes the guage read 170 when the boilers cuts off, I start to feel the steam radiators get warm.
The circulator happens to be hanging off a steam boiler system. I have the steam portion of the thermostat turned off so I am just concentrating on the one room in my house that uses circulating hot water. If I raise that cut-off temp to high, could that cause my boiler to start creating some steam?
HELP - I have dan's book and I live on long island and its getting cold!

Is the zone hooked into a coil ?
Or is it hooked into the boiler itself ? If the temp gauge is in the steam water , chances are you might need a new one. They foul up pretty quick in that water .0
