that is. I expect we'll have a lot of homeowners listening in on the Wall in the coming days. In spite of her troubles, Martha still has a tremendous following.
Retired and loving it.

Welcome Fellow Homeowners
This is a great site where, if you sit back long enough, you will learn enough to be able to communicate with some of the best in the business. Martha may be an easy target, but she also does more to introduce the masses to quality work and ideas than anyone. I think the pros will benefit from the mention and thanks for their patience with current and future homeowner visitors. Good Going, Dan.0 -
I appreciate that, Doug
I'm very aware of the number of homeowners who visit here each day, but rarely post. And that's why I really appreciate the level of professionalism that the contractors consistently display when posting. Thanks for your insight.Retired and loving it.0 -
Sorry Dan...
I ain't leavin' no satchel of potpourri on the boiler top when I'm done with the job!0 -
If
the pot is allowed to pour over the boiler, you're going to be in deep %$&# - pun intended!

Time to have the boiler cleaned and tuned.
Also rotate the dust ruffle on the indirect.

Wow!
When you think about how utilitarian our boiler rooms look, there's a huge untapped design market for Martha! Why, the possibilities for scorched air ductwork alone boggles my imagination(G). Refrigerator magnet heaven for metal and push pin frolics for fiberglass ductboard. Candy striped hydronic lines, rust duffles (for those dyslexic humid basements), lighted gauge glasses - not to mention violet water for the steam jacket and let's not forget that the boiler room is where our mothers always placed the bread dough to rise. If Martha discovers radiant heating, she'll have a whole house to place dough on the floors, walls and ceilings (which is typical of my cooking) for proofing the batter. Now, if the batter goes on strike, she'll have to go back to pre-mixed dough cause the professional batter will absorb all of the scratch mixed dough $$$$$.

Support your pipes (tomatoes)
frequently with strapping (panty hose). Of course you don't have to use titanium (Pierre Cardin) like I do.
The parenthetical stuff was the first thing I heard on Martha's show when I was "flipping" one night. Haven't had much of a stomach for it since then, but...I did once see her install a hammock (flipping again) and she did a good job and used fine material so I've got to give credit where due.
A few drops of food coloring and Chanel in that fill water will give it an attractive hue and aroma you know.0 -
Good idea!
Just a nice little touch... Fill the boiler with lavender water, you'll know immediately if you have a leak in the system.
Ask your heating guy to run an extra heating loop in the cupboard to keep your dishes warm.
Oh, always bring the tea to the pot, NEVER bring the pot to the tea.
Hey, I kinda like this! I'm getting more in touch with my sensitive, creative side...0 -
Say wha-a-a-at???
Strapping with panty hose??? I'll have to tune in more often!!!0 -
freshen up
that open expansion tank on your gravity system by tossing in some lemon wedges.
Around Christmas, substitute orange slices with whole cloves stuck in them.

and
Why not?!? If Mike is wearing panty hose, anything goes(G)!

Hummnnnnn
I may need to reconsider my stance on open systems. Lemon scented legionella?

Did somebody say Open Systems?
Dave:
"Stay the Course", don't let Martha sway your stance on open systems.0 -
Another tip from Martha... Corduroy pillows !
They're making headlines!0 -
Martha wishes...
that she wasn't a part of her trading business too....

give and get
I think Dan should do a "give and get" on how to tell if Martha Stewart has been doing your HVAC work.

Panty Hose
I only wore them ONCE Dave.
For President Reagan's 2nd inaugural parade as part of "horse control."
FREAK COLD in DC that year (below zero air and gale-force winds) and was commanding the main staging area for 300+ horses directly in front of the capitol building. Duece-and-a-half command post with one radio, one light bulb, one TINY heater and one other body under my command.
Was told, "just LOOK like you're in Class 'A' uniform." Wife insisted "panty hose keep you warm." She's size 5 and I'm 6'3" so after destroying a pair bought "queen." (Fair game, Dave.)
When captain saw me wearing my wife's little squirrel ear muffs--it took close observation--he demanded "What are you doing with those?" "My wife had 'em, it's really cold and they're really small, sir. Why not use 'em?"
He took me (a corporal) out to a strip club that night after NANCY cancelled the parade. (Not fair game, Dave.)0 -
What scares me
Is that Mike remembers that the color was Titanium.
Lol
