hey guys. i'm new at this. i have seen 5 or 6 peerless, model jowt boilers. all of them have been fhw systems, non cold start. all of them have been plugged with a cement like substance. i have found this substance in both the pin section and the lower section of the boiler. my service manager thought i was nuts when i told him i had to "clean" a boiler with a hammer and a piece of copper pipe, then i got smart and brought him back a sample. is it just me or has anyone else seen this?

what color is
this material? Sounds like it is a mixture of condensation and soot. Real treat to clean. Check how the near boiler piping is, they may need to be repipied to bring the return water temp up. If the boiler can't fire enough to keep up with cold water returning to the boiler it will condensate inside the combustion areas. Looks like a rain forest inside when running? Boiler sections look like they are perspiring?0
