I have a steam boiler in a school that has started leaking. Can I put stop leak in it? The school wants to hopefully make it to spring before having it replaced. I am a one man shop so replacing this boiler is to big a job for me. I just want to help them get by if I can.

It often
contaminates the water to the point where you won't be able to make quality steam. It will be very difficult to heat the place then and they'll blame you.Retired and loving it.0 -
what boiler model?
some you can't put petroleum products into.
Stopleaks also get into steam vents and controls. Figure on anything with a small port or hole being affected by the chemical. It is a judgement call.
You can't get the toothpaste back in the tube....Make sure you are prepared to change plugged parts for as long as there is any chemical left in the system, even WITH a new boiler.
